This page contains some notes on a family whose origins we are researching. At present we know very little about their early history, but we hope that by publishing this summary here we can make contact and exchange data with people who can tell us more or who can point us in the right direction to continue our own research.
The Allison family we know about lived in London, but we believe that they originally came from Durham. We are interested in the following generations of people who bore this surname:
Robert Allison (no details known)
Robert Allison (1785 - 1852) and Elizabeth Morley (1809 - 1891)
Richard Allison (1849 - 1932) and Sarah Liddon (1847 - 1920)
Elizabeth C Allison (1883 - 1975) and Frank A Anderson (1883 - 1963)
We have traced our line back to a Robert Allison who was born in 1785 at Shincliffe in County Durham. His father's name was also Robert Allison, but nothing more is known of the family's origins. We do know that Elizabeth Morley was not his first wife. The records we have found come mainly from London (the Allisons lived in Bloomsbury and their son Richard later lived in Rotherhithe). We know more about the Anderson family than we do about the Allisons, and also a little about the Morley and Liddon lines.
Some of the names above are linked to the corresponding record in the on-line family tree. When you click on a link, the linked record will be displayed in a separate window. There you can see the family relationships as we understand them, together with notes on what we have found in parish registers, census returns and other records.
