The Kibbeys we are researching lived in Tiverton in Devon, where many family members worked in the lace industry. The surname was also spelt Kibby in many records. The earliest confirmed record is the marriage of Benjamin Kibbey and Mary Hayman in Cullompton in 1756. We have found evidence of earlier generations in Tiverton but we have been unable to prove that they are connected. Children of Thomas Kibbey were baptised between 1729 and 1738, but we have not found Benjamin. This Thomas was probably born in 1706, the son of Thomas Kibbey and Susanna Rawley.
