This page contains some notes on a family whose origins we are researching. Some families we know more about than others, but we hope that by publishing this summary here we can make contact and exchange data with people who can help to complete the picture.
The Kibbey family we are researching came from Tiverton in Devon. We are interested in the following generations of people who bore this surname:
Benjamin Kibbey (buried 1787) and Mary Hayman (1736/7 - 1789)
Benjamin Kibbey (born 1757) and Ann Worth (1756 - 1833)
Thomas Kibbey (1784 - 1845) and Maria Stocker (c1780 - 1871)
Mary Ann Kibbey (c1812 - 1897) and William Clarke (1804 - 1861)
Most of the records we have found relate to Tiverton in Devon, but we are unsure of the family's origins (the surname is often spelt Kibby). Benjamin Kibbey and Mary Hayman were married in Cullompton, but their children were baptised in Tiverton. Mary Ann Kibbey was born in London, and her parents also have some connection with Bristol. After her marriage Mary Ann and her family lived in Awliscombe, near Honiton. We have plenty of information about the Clarke family, but we know very little about the maternal lines.
Some of the names above are linked to the corresponding record in the on-line family tree. When you click on a link, the linked record will be displayed in a separate window. There you can see the family relationships as we understand them, together with notes on what we have found in parish registers, census returns and other records.
