This page contains some notes on two families whose origins we are researching. At present we know very little about their early history, but we hope that by publishing this summary here we can make contact and exchange data with people who can tell us more or who can point us in the right direction to continue our own research.
The family we are researching lived in Buckland Monachorum in Devon in the middle of the eighteenth century, but their origins are at present uncertain. So far we have established only the following very short family tree:
Arthur Skinner (no details known) and Ann Eastlake (c1718 - 1803)
Rachel Skinner (1755 - 1817) and John Seccombe (1752 - 1828)
Arthur Skinner and Ann Eastlake were married in 1752 in Buckland Monachorum. We have found records of three children in Buckland Monachorum, and Ann was buried there in August 1803, aged 85.
We have found no other records relating to Arthur Skinner, so he remains a mystery. An Ann Eastlake was baptised in 1718 in Tavistock, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Eastlake. A Samuel Eastlake was buried in Buckland Monachorum, so it is possible that this is the right Ann Eastlake, but we have not yet proved the relationship. Although we have found several other Eastlake references in Tavistock and Buckland Monachorum, we have not yet established a clear line of descent.
