The Stocker Family in Devon

This page lists those members of the Stocker family whose origins we are researching. Entries in italics are inferred or uncertain, or have been supplied by other researchers and not personally verified by us. The list does not include children known to have died in infancy. We are descended from a Stocker family who lived in Honiton in east Devon. We have traced our line back to Samuel Stocker and Ann Powning, who were married in Honiton in 1677. Many family members were baptised at the New Meeting House in Honiton, but there are large gaps in the surviving registers. Much of what we know about names and relationships comes from wills rather than from baptism records. For a few people the names and relationships are all that we do know, so there are still more loose ends than we would like.
