The Teire Family in Liverpool

This page contains some notes on a family whose origins we are researching. Some families we know more about than others, but we hope that by publishing this summary here we can make contact and exchange data with people who can help to complete the picture.

The family we are researching lived in Liverpool, although the Teire name probably has its origins in the Isle of Man. We are interested in the following generations of people who bore this surname:

Daniel Teire and Ann Sayle (no details known)
Daniel Teire (1822 - 1883) and Elizabeth Griffiths (c1826 - 1902)
Charlotte Teire (1846 - 1926) and Richard Eaton (1844 - 1915)

The Daniel Teire who married Elizabeth Griffiths was born in Ramsey, Isle of Man, but he had moved to Liverpool by 1845. Although we have researched this Daniel and his children in some detail, we are not sure of the family's origins. We know that Daniel's father was also Daniel, so he was probably the Daniel Teire who married Ann Sayle. We have seen many variations on the spelling, including Tear, Teare and Tier. We also have some details of Richard Eaton and his family.

Some of the names above are linked to the corresponding record in the on-line family tree. When you click on a link, the linked record will be displayed in a separate window. There you can see the family relationships as we understand them, together with notes on what we have found in parish registers, census returns and other records.
