The Seccombe Family in Devon

This page contains some notes on a family whose origins we are researching. Some families we know more about than others, but we hope that by publishing this summary here we can make contact and exchange data with people who can help to complete the picture.

The Seccombe family lived in Devon, in and around Buckland Monachorum. We are interested in the following generations of people who bore this surname:

John Seccombe (buried 1752) and Emme Martin (1683/4 - 1771)
Digory Seccombe (1719 - 1788) and Joan Willcock (1725/6 - 1809)
John Seccombe (1752 - 1828) and Rachel Skinner (1755 - 1817)
Jenny Seccombe (1792 - 1862) and James Willcock (1790 - 1836)

Most of the information we have found on this family relates to the Buckland Monachorum area, starting with the marriage of John Seccombe and Emme Martin in 1706. We have seen many variations on the spelling, including Seccom, Seccomb and Seckham. We know a lot about the Willcock family and a little about the other maternal lines.

Some of the names above are linked to the corresponding record in the on-line family tree. When you click on a link, the linked record will be displayed in a separate window. There you can see the family relationships as we understand them, together with notes on what we have found in parish registers, census returns and other records.
