Entries in italics are inferred or uncertain, or have been supplied by other researchers and not personally verified by us. The list does not include children known to have died in infancy. In our line the usual spelling is Seccombe, but several other spellings appear in earlier records. Our Seccombe ancestors lived in Devon, in and around Buckland Monachorum. Several generations of Seccombes can be found in the registers for Buckland Monachorum, although the family actually lived in Horrabridge for many years. We have traced the line back to the marriage of John Seccombe and Emme Martin in 1706, but we do not know anything about earlier generations. Some of the maternal lines have also been traced in Buckland Monachorum and the surrounding area.
