Most of the information found so far on this family relates to Liverpool and Glasgow, where we have traced our line back to John Poland and Janet Campbell. Records suggest that John Poland was born in Ireland and Janet Campbell in Pollokshaws, near Glasgow, but nothing is known for certain of their origins. The family moved to Liverpool around 1860. The surname was sometimes recorded as Polland or McPoland.
