This page contains some notes on a family whose origins we are researching. Some families we know more about than others, but we hope that by publishing this summary here we can make contact and exchange data with people who can help to complete the picture.
The family we are researching lived in Liverpool, although there are connections with both Scotland and Ireland. We are interested in the following generations of people who bore this surname:
John Poland (c1822 - 1885) and Janet Campbell (c1823 - 1897)
John Poland (1848 - 1901) and Janet Miller (c1849 - 1896)
Jane Poland (born 1873) and Robert Edward Dawe (1872 - 1954)
John Poland senior was probably born in Ireland and Janet Campbell in Pollokshaws, near Glasgow. Nothing concrete is known of their origins, but two of their children were born in Glasgow and one in Kirkcaldy, Fife. The family moved to Liverpool around 1860. We also know quite a lot about the Dawe line, but very little about the Miller and Campbell connections.
Some of the names above are linked to the corresponding record in the on-line family tree. When you click on a link, the linked record will be displayed in a separate window. There you can see the family relationships as we understand them, together with notes on what we have found in parish registers, census returns and other records.
