The Venn Family in Devon

This page lists those members of the Venn family whose origins we are researching. Entries in italics are inferred or uncertain, or have been supplied by other researchers and not personally verified by us. The list does not include children known to have died in infancy. The starting point for this tree is a "Henry Venn of Peyhembury" who married Jane Good in 1727 (we have found two possible candidates, sons born in 1704/5 to Edward Venn and to John Venn of Haskins). This branch of the Venn family lived in Kings Nympton and Chulmleigh from 1735 until well into the 19th century, branching out into other nearby parishes including Bishops Nympton and Chittlehampton. During the 19th century some of their descendants moved further east towards Tiverton, and are recorded in the parishes of Cruwys Morchard, Cheriton Fitzpaine and Templeton. By the end of the 19th century the family had spread to Devonport, Crediton and Willand.
